Born in Kampala
Born to Agnes and Joe Pacutho. Eldest of her mother's three children, seventh of her father's ten. Raised across two cultures - Ankole and Alur.
The Story of
Leader - Entrepreneur - Homemaker
From selling mango juice on the streets of Kampala to founding Uganda's first 24-hour workplace childcare centre, building a nationally televised motherhood series, and being recognized by the Obama Foundation - this is a life shaped by resilience, faith, and an unwavering belief that no mother should have to choose between her children and her dreams.
Chapter One
Born to Agnes Ruteitsire, a Munyankore, and Joe Pacutho, an Alur from West Nile, Manuela grew up navigating two cultures and one relentless drive. When her mother lost her job after an accident and her father retired, the family of three squeezed into a single room. Every morning, young Manuela would go to Owino Market, buy sacks of mangoes, peel them at the top of Mutaasa Kafeero Plaza, and sell fresh juice in mineral water bottles because her mother insisted on standards, even in poverty. Those early mornings taught her to pair discipline with dignity, to lead with courage under pressure, and to hold on to excellence long before she had access to comfort.
Your clothes have to be clean and you have to be smart - even in your poverty. That was my mother's rule, and it became my life's compass.
Chapter Two
After graduating from Makerere University with a degree in Statistics and Psychology, Manuela climbed the corporate ladder - from Watoto Church's Children's Ministry to Bank of Africa Uganda, where she led marketing and communications in black high heels with red bottoms. But when she conceived her first child, everything changed. She visited daycare after daycare, and found caregivers just sitting, waiting for children to play alone. No curriculum. No intention. No heart. She knew she had to build something different.
I didn't want my child's first 1,000 days to be treated as a by-the-way. Those days are the foundation of the person they become.

Chapter Three
In 2014, Manuela founded The Cradle - Uganda's first 24-hour workplace infant and toddler care centre. With a play-based curriculum, fifteen professional caregivers working around the clock, and a vision to partner with organizations so working mothers never have to choose, The Cradle became more than a business. It became a movement. She scaled to a mobile app, expanded to multiple branches, and created the Childcare Business Course to train others. Then came Bump Love - a television and web series on NTV Uganda where mothers share the raw, real stories of parenthood.
When you strengthen a woman, you steady a home. When you steady a home, you shift a generation.
